NBA Veteran Provided Community Resources to College Park and Hometown of Baton Rouge, La.
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. The NBA G League announced today that College Park Skyhawks guard Langston Galloway was awarded with the NBA G League Community Assist award, given annually to one player that displays outstanding community and philanthropic efforts throughout the season. Galloway is the first Skyhawks player to receive the award.
“Consistent impact in my community has always been a part of my personal mission. I can often remember those who helped me growing up and it truly has stuck with me for life. I have been fortunate to play for a lot of cities in my career, and I have been a part of each of those communities during my tenure,” said Galloway. “College Park was no different – I loved seeing the kids at our games and seeing them throughout the city. This is what it’s all about: truly changing the next generation, kid-by-kid. We strive to build a strong foundation for a better way forward."
Galloway, an eight-year NBA veteran, partnered with a number of causes in his hometown of Baton Rouge, La., and participated in several community events with the Skyhawks. In Baton Rouge, he has a Healthy Meals program at Thrive Academy to provide healthy pre-game meals for their boys and girls basketball teams. He also assisted with refurbishing the outdoor basketball courts at Baton Rouge’s Longfellow Park. Moreover, he hosted his seventh annual, free Langston Galloway Basketball Camp prior to the season.
In College Park, Galloway worked with the Skyhawks to purchase gifts for the youth of iHoop Factory for their holiday wish lists and spoke on numerous postgame panels with youth basketball teams during the season, among other initiatives.
Galloway and his wife, Sabrina, also run the Langston Galloway Foundation, which helps build strong foundations through sports, education, and well-being by removing barriers, providing support, and casting a vision of what is possible for kids and student-athletes.
