Okongwu’s First Assignment to College Park After Offseason Shoulder Surgery

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The College Park Skyhawks announced today that center Onyeka Okongwu and forward Jalen Johnson have been assigned to the College Park Skyhawks, while two-way player and guard Sharife Cooper has been transferred to the College Park Skyhawks.

This is Okongwu’s first assignment to the Skyhawks. The sixth overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Hawks had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder in July. The 20-year-old appeared in 50 regular season games and 18 playoff games for the Hawks during the 2020-21 campaign.

Johnson has been assigned to the Skyhawks for the sixth time this season, while this is Cooper’s sixth transfer to the Skyhawks. The pair are each averaging 17.4 points per contest with College Park.

The Skyhawks travel to take on the Long Island Nets on Dec. 9, with the conclusion of the series set to take place on Dec. 11. Both games are set to tip-off at 7 p.m. ET.
